  • CBL: Hark! The Basement Ladies Sing

CBL: Hark! The Basement Ladies Sing Wednesday, December 4, 2019 Warning! The Church Basement Ladies are back with #8 in the series! After an included lunch buffet at a brand new lunch option, Q. Cumbers, which features a 50’ long salad bar, a variety of hot entrees, soup and ice cream/desert bar, we’re on our way to the Ames Center (the theatre has been renovated) in Burnsville for Hark! The Basement Ladies Sing. It’s December 1960, and members of this rural community have gathered around their reel-to-reel tape player to record a special Christmas greeting for one of their boys serving overseas. As the ladies serve up coffee and cookies, Pastor suffers from a case of stage fright, Mavis smuggles a piglet into the kitchen, a surprise visitor leaves Karin speechless, and the Widow Vivian Snustad gets caught in an embarrassing situation. Throughout it all, you are encouraged to sing along as Beverly Barsness bangs out Christmas carols on the old upright. So come “Fa La La” with the Church Basement Ladies as they deck their fellowship hall. $74 pp Winsted 9:30 AM-5:00 PM Waconia 10:30 AM-4:00 PM

HISTORIC CHIPPEWA CITY & FAGEN FIGHTERS WWII MUSEUM TOURIT WAS THAT GOOD!!!This tour really is THAT GOOD!!! I highly recommend it as a special day to bring kids and grandkids. We’ll begin with Historic ChippewaCity, home to 24 buildings replicating a late 1800’s village, complete with town square and boardwalk as well as a centrally located bandstand/gazebo. Some of the buildings inspired artist Terry Redlin. Before we leave, we’ll enjoy an included picnic lunch. Then we’ll depart for the Fagen Fighters WWII Museum, a living memorial to one of the most critical times in our nation’s history. Fagen Fighters WWII Museum is a showcase of fully operational iconic aircraft and ground equipment used in that epic conflict. Most importantly, it is a tribute to the men and women whose incredible sacrifices during that time shaped the freedom and liberty we enjoy today. This museum is awesome! As we leave Granite Falls, we’ll stop for refreshments at the Dairy Queen before departing.

KEYC-TV BANDWAGON SHOW TAPING TOURWe rarely do evening tours, but I think you’ll enjoy this one. I hope you’ll join us. We’re headed for the Kato Ballroom in Mankato for the taping of four Bandwagon Shows with Chuck Thiel and the Jolly Ramblers. Motorcoach transportation, admission and a dinner of ham, scalloped potatoes, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage are included. Our group will be seated together, but you’re free to move about. Perhaps you’d like to dance, just relax with friends, meet new people, or get to be on TV.

MINNESOTA STATE FAIRIt’s Senior & Kids’ Day, at the Minnesota State Fair! Bring the grandkids! We’ll have about six hours to check things out. Perhaps it’s agriculture that will be of interest to you, including the livestock and Machinery Hill. It could be the shows throughout the grounds. If you’re young or young at heart, the Midway, Kidway or thrill rides at Adventure Park could be your destination. Bring your appetite and check out the interesting variety of foods available throughout the fairgrounds. Why would you want to drive, park and pay admission when it’s all included right here?

OBVIOUSLY, THIS AIN’T IOWA MYSTERYOur destination is by request… with a discount price for kids. I’ll drop a few hints along the way. First, we’ll pick up a guide so I can relax. I’ll be stressed. Coffee and rolls will be included somewhere along the line. We’ll take a guided tour of a place we’ve all heard of. Many of you may have family members who have spent time there. It’s not a prison, but you must have your ID with you… driver’s license is best choice… no excuses. Kids, you’re okay unless you’re a felon. Hints: Did you know that Jesse Ventura nicknamed Gene Okerlund “Mean Gene”? How many of you have “hideaway homes”? No famous actresses ever lived in Lester Prairie, but I know of a “Hall of Fame” concertina player who resides there. I digress. Hungry? Hint: Perhaps we’ll find some roadkill along the way to an included catered lunch. Then we’ll explore an extraordinary museum. This will be no “fly by night” experience! Our final stop will be a guided visit which may seem like a family rebellion for some in our group. This tour is absolutely recommended for all ages. You know you can trust me!

SKYROCK FARM- IT’S FOR ALL AGESThe reviews are in! The “It’s Summer! Time for a Mystery for All Ages Tour” was an absolute hit in 2018! If you’ve ever visited House on the Rock, Circus World or a carnival or circus, enjoyed a great meal, or have a love for horses (and jumping), plus a mini-train ride around the grounds, this tour is for ALL AGES! Think of the “Happiest Music on Earth” you hear on merry-go-rounds or at the circus as ornate guilded organs are demonstrated. How the music is “punched” on cardboard is really fascinating. A wonderful included buffet lunch will follow. Then we’ll head to the horse barn for a really fun and informative horse jumping demonstration. Following the show, you’ll have time to check things out further on your own and perhaps go for a mini-train ride around the grounds. Ask anyone who joined me in 2018. People of all ages will enjoy this one!
