    Fools Fall in Love Friday, February 14, 2020 Happy Valentine’s Day! Our destination is the Ives Auditorium in Bloomington where we’ll begin with an included lunch of roast beef, cheesy potatoes, veggie du jour, cold salad, dinner roll, desserts and coffee/tea and water.     From the King, For the King: The Gospel According to Elvis Wednesday, March 11, 2020 Once again, our destination is the Ives Auditorium in Bloomington where we’ll begin with an included lunch of oven fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, buttered corn, green beans, coleslaw, biscuits, desserts and coffee/hot tea and water. (You’re invited to join me for a brief tour of the facility after lunch.) Then we’ll head for the theatre for From the King, For the King: The Gospel According to Elvis, a unique performance of the legendary gospel songs of Elvis Presley. The show features the lead vocals of Mick Sterling, along with multiple singers performing the incredible vocal parts of Elvis’s Jordanaires, and a simple but powerful band providing the gospel energy needed to make this performance one you won’t soon forget.     Gangsters/Cherokee Tavern/Fort Snelling National Cemetery Tour Wednesday, June 17 We’ll begin with the St. Paul Gangster Tour. This is the real gangster tour… not the politicians. Our costumed guide will take us to sites of nightclubs, kidnappings, and gun battles associated with the 1930’s gangsters like John Dillinger, Ma Barker and Babyface Nelson. We’ll see where the gangsters lived it up as they planned and executed some of the most notorious crimes ever perpetrated in the upper Midwest. We’ll go past the most infamous gangster hideouts and the famous nightclubs where many gangsters spent time socializing with the public. A wonderful included bbq rib and baked ham buffet lunch at the Cherokee Tavern follows. Our final stop is also the final stop for many of our honored veterans and their spouses. Fort Snelling National Cemetery was established on July 14, 1939. The cemetery serves over 1.4 million veterans in the 5-state area. Over 4,900 burials are conducted each year, and Fort Snelling National Cemetery is the 4th busiest and 10th largest cemetery in the National Cemetery Administration. We’ll be treated to a fully guided drive-through tour and will get to see many of the day-to-day activities that take place there. Bring your questions.     This is a really fun and informal day with lots of garage sale stops and you get to hang around with Norb and me. Once again we're staying in Hasting for more shopping time. W'll have 4 - 5 hours to shop with a fast food lunch on your own. Snack and beverages will be available. One request: Please don't buy things that are too big to fit in your vehicles. Norb and I aren't magicians.

  • Lanesboro Amish Tour

    LANESBORO AMISH TOUR We’re on our way to Lanesboro once again where we’ll tour the largest Old Order Amish Community in Minnesota. We may get to see our Amish friends in the fields. We’ll visit and observe Amish farms where you may purchase Amish crafts, furniture and baked goods. Lunch will be on your own. Peddle Pushers Restaurant is recommended. Time will then be allowed for shopping at a variety of shops. Snacks will be included as we head for home. Please note: To expedite lunch at Peddle Pushers, you will have two options for lunch. Each option is all inclusive and includes non alcoholic beverage and apple crisp dessert. You are not required to participate. There will be no sharing or splitting meals. #1 Basic burger, french fries, coleslaw #2 Norwegian meatballs, mashed potatoes, carrots Please plan to arrive at pickup site atleast 15 minutes prior ahead of time.

    National Eagle Center/Lark Toys Wednesday, July 15 This tour is so much fun and so educational… and everyone loves picnics. Bring the kids and grandkids to visit with eagles up close and personal. Our first stop will be The National Eagle Center in Wabasha. Named in 2016 the #1 Family Attraction Worth Traveling For in Minnesota by (TripAdvisor), The National Eagle Center is an environmental interpretive center on the banks of the Mississippi River. They offer wild eagle viewing, interactive exhibits, cultural and historical displays. Live eagle programs conducted by a naturalist interpreter each feature a live eagle. We’ll then take a short drive to Kellogg for a picnic lunch. After lunch we’ll visit LARK Toys, one of the largest independent specialty toy stores in the country… voted “Best Toy Store in Minnesota.” Highlights include: hand-carved wooden carousel to ride, LARK-made wooden toys, games and puzzles, quality developmental toys, science and nature, arts and crafts, large book store, café, handmade fudge, ice cream and candy, miniature llamas, antique toy museum, and an 18-hole outdoor mini-golf course. $72 pp

    Taylors Falls/Fawn-Doe-Rosa Tour Thursday, August 6 This was so great in 2019! Make it a special day and bring the kids/grandkids! We begin with an 80-minute boat cruise of the St. Croix River Valley while we enjoy an included lunch of Ferndale Market turkey sandwich with Colby Jack cheese, organic romaine lettuce on Franklin Street Bakery bun, kettle chips, organic baby carrots and chocolate chip cookie. Then we’ll take a five-minute ride to Fawn-Doe-Rosa Wildlife Educational Park where we’ll see all sorts of animals we may see often or may rarely see and wonder what they actually look like up close and personal (llamas, ferrets, skunk, porcupine, badgers, coyote, bobcats, and elk)… and you may purchase treats for the animals at a very reasonable price. Bring your cellphones and/or cameras. You may even walk through the park with a deer by your side. It’s a pretty awesome experience for all ages!
