  • ACT Preparatory Courses

    Advantage Preparatory Courses - ACT Advantage Educational Programs provide an introduction to the ACT format and strategies for answering questions as well as instruction for the specific subject areas to be tested on the ACT College Entrance Exam. This 12-hour prep course is designed for students who wish to improve their test-taking skills and overall score on the ACT. Focal points of the program include diagnostic testing, science reasoning, math review and strategies, reading comprehension improvement, English strategies, writing essays, overcoming test anxiety, and time management. In addition, students who register for this course may repeat the course in future offerings, at no additional charge. The tuition for the ACT prep course is $140.     BEGINNER CROSS-COUNTRY SKI LESSON AGE 8+ (Please note date change to February 23rd)Learn to love the snow and stride into action by learning how to Cross-Country ski during a Minnesota winter! Our course will provide all equipment and entry-level ski instruction, including an explanation of the equipment & techniques. Your ski experience will allow you to explore the groomed trails of Baylor Regional Park. Registration fees include necessary equipment: skis, ski boots, & poles. This program is a partnership between Carver County Parks, Watertown-Mayer & Norwood Young America Community Education Departments. Youth must register with a participating/registered adult.

  • Babysitting Training Age 11 & up

    BABYSITTING & CHILD SAFETY INSTRUCTION AGE 11 & UP Boys and girls age 11+ learn skill training and information necessary in caring for infants and children in the American Health and Safety Institute accredited program. This program will teach the importance of responsibility, recognizing and emergency, emergency action steps, personal safety, fire and water safety, infant/child basic care, and also, responding to an unconscious victim, CPR, choking management, and basic first aid. Upon successful completion, participants will earn the American Health and Safety Institute Child and Babysitting Safety certification card. Please bring a pen, paper, snack and beverage.
  • Classroom Driver's Education/Traffic Safety

    CLASSROOM DRIVER EDUCATION/ TRAFFIC SAFETY EDUCATIONThis course will offer instruction in all areas of content needed for the driving task and driving related issues. This program meets the MN State required 30 hours of classroom instruction. A Certificate of Completion of Classroom Driver Education will be distributed at the end of the class. The Certificate of completion must be submitted as proof of completion of class when you register for Behind the Wheel program. Please note each class has a minimum enrollment requirement. Each class is 3.25 hours (includes a 15 minute break).

    FAMILY GEOCACHING FOR S’MORES, SNOWSHOE EXCURSION AGE 6+Embark on this adventurous treasure hunt with the family! Not only will you be equipped to track down a tasty treat but with snowshoes, you will be traveling in style! This program will be held outdoors at Baylor Regional Park and is a partnership between Carver County Parks Department , Lake Minnewashta Regional Park, Watertown-Mayer & Norwood Young America Community Education Departments. Youth must register & participate with an adult.

    GIRLS HAIRSTYLING 101Come enjoy some quality time with the special young lady in your life! This class is being offered as an adult/child class and will be geared towards adults and girls preschool - 4th grade who are wanting to learn some easy hairstyles, tips, and tricks. This class will be taught at a basic/beginner level meaning that we will focus on some simple braiding and French braiding techniques, also some fun, quick, and trendy styling ideas. The structure of the class will be to observe as a group and then practice the technique on your child. The instructor will walk around and provide one on one help, helping you master your new skills.Please bring your special girl with clean hair. Everything you need will be provided. You will go home with the supplies to recreate the styles learned in class.No experience necessary. Dads, uncles, grandpa’s etc… are welcome!   • Kids' Company Field Trips

    Children currently enrolled in Kids' Company School Year  2018-19 program are eligible to sign up for optional field trips and must be signed up for day of field trip. Children will need to wear shoes and socks on day of field trip, some activities also require a signed waiver which will be available in the parent area and emailed to families prior the field trip.

    TAE KWON DO – AGE 7 & UP (Advertise in youth and adult section if room)Participants of all ages can benefit from this traditional Korean martial art. This is a great class for parent and child. No previous athletic experience is required. Our class offers students a well rounded training program to develop mind, body and spirit. Along with the physical and mental benefits of training, students will learn effective self defense techniques, develop self confidence, discipline, fitness and total health. Please wear comfortable clothing. Uniforms and gear can be purchased through the instructor. The instructor is Brian Lyle. He is a 5th degree black belt in taekwondo and a first degree black belt in Hapkido. Master Lyle has been teaching and training for the last 15 years.

    W-M GIRLS SOCCER WORKOUTS AND CAMP GR 7-12Royals’ Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Joseph Perez is offering soccer camp to girls in grades 7-12. Athletes who are contemplating participating in soccer next fall for W-M or would like to try the sport are invited. Soccer fundamentals and team play will be stressed during the week. Players will work on team offense and defense while building their individual skills. Participants will receive a dri-fit t-shirt.
